Dear Calvary Family,

Since the governor’s stay-at-home order is expiring on May 1, we are excited to share a plan for us to meet together again for worship. Of course we have to temper that excitement and coordinate a measured response so we can continue to protect one another from the ongoing risks associated with COVID-19. With that in mind, we encourage each family to make careful decisions about the timing and the extent to which you will return to church.

Beginning this Sunday, May 3, the worship center will be open for corporate worship at 10:15. The building has been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, and we will take other precautions like propping doors open to reduce the touching of door handles, setting up hand sanitizer stations, and maintaining a safe distance between families. According to the state’s guidelines, we must maintain at least 3 empty chairs between individuals or families from separate households and we must leave every other row empty.

During this reopening phase, the building will only be open for Sunday morning worship. There will be no Bible study classes, small groups, or children/youth ministry activities. There will also be no childcare services, including nursery, children’s church, and extended care. We believe the safest place for children is to sit in church with their families at this time.

If you plan to attend in-person worship, we ask you to follow these protocols:

  • Anyone who has shown signs or symptoms of possible COVID-19 infection should NOT attend church or be among the public.
  • Anyone in a high-risk population (including those 65 or older and anyone with pre-existing health conditions) is strongly encouraged to stay home and participate in worship through our livestream on Facebook or
  • Wash or sanitize hands frequently.
  • Maintain at least 6 feet distance from anyone not in your household.
  • Do not touch anyone who is not in your household.
  • Consider wearing a cloth face covering to reduce the spread of germs.

We admit this is strange, and a bit sad, to have so many protocols in order for us to meet together. On the other hand, we are thrilled to finally get back to meeting as a family to worship our Lord, and we look forward to seeing some of you this Sunday. Please do not feel obligated to return to church this week if you are uncomfortable with it. We will continue streaming our service live on Facebook and so you can participate remotely.

We love you, we’re praying for you, and we can’t wait to see you again.
